Who We Are

Ministry Overview

Lighthouse Community Church exists to make Gospel-centered disciples who exalt and proclaim Christ.

Our Ministry

Lighthouse Community Church adheres to five fundamental convictions that define its identity, determine its function, and drive its decision-making.

The Supremacy of the Worship of God

We have a high view of God and a desire that He be exalted (Romans 11:36)

The Sufficiency of the Word of God

We have a passion for God’s Word and a conviction of its sufficiency ( 2 Timothy 3:14-17; Isaiah 55:8-11)

The Service and Community of the People of God

We believe that every believer is a servant committed to the building up of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-17)

The Sharing of the Message of God

We are committed to proclaiming the truths of the gospel (Matthew 5:13-16; 28:18-20)

The Satisfaction of the Soul in Relationship with God

We believe that a true abiding relationship with God leads to ultimate joy ( Psalm 16:11; 63:1-5)

Our Story

In the spring of 2003, Evergreen Baptist Church in San Gabriel Valley planted Lighthouse Community Church out of a desire to minister to the South Bay area of Los Angeles. Starting with five elder/pastors and around 50 congregants, Lighthouse held its first worship service on April 27, 2003 at Macgruder Middle School, moving to a cafeteria in Torrance High School later that year. Those early years of being a “church in a trailer” were an incredible time of spiritual growth as a church family.

We grew in our love for and confidence in God’s Word, we were increasingly amazed at the centrality of the Gospel for everyday life, and we were thrilled to live life together as the family of God. As we were outgrowing our rented space at Torrance High, God graciously provided the opportunity to move to our current location at 501 Van Ness Avenue in September 2011.

Since then, the church has continued to grow, but the most important things have stayed the same: making Gospel-centered disciples who exalt and proclaim Christ.
