Sunday Fuel: Nov. 1, 2026

Welcome to Sunday Fuel! This series of questions is designed to assist your personal reflection and fellowship with others about the sermon from this past Sunday.

Go to This Sunday’s Sermon

1. See: How is your spiritual vision, particularly in regard to your finances?

  • Evaluate your attitudes about money and your heart’s response as you considered the calls to be generous to God with the resources you have been given. What blind spots are revealed or what excuses arise?
  • If you are having trouble, is there a trusted Christian friend that can help you in this evaluation?

2. Remember the gospel: Through his once-for-all sacrifice, Christ has paid our debt of sin and given us a wealth of grace in our spiritual bankruptcy. How should this be the underlying motivation for our generosity? If we are truly his children through this gospel of grace, how would our unwillingness to be generous actually be an act of treason?

3. Repent: Take time to confess the darkness of your spiritual “eyes.”

  • Confess your struggle to give God your full devotion and admit how you’re trying to hold back from him.
  • Acknowledge the “side hustles” that compete with your worship or how you justify your reasons for holding back what he has graciously given you.
  • Tell him the truth about those areas of your heart you are stingy with.
  • Will you submit your resources (financial and otherwise) to Him in trust, believing He cares for you more than the birds and lilies?

4. Give and serve: As an act of wholehearted worship, what is one small way you can be generous this week?

  • How you might start giving with 10%, if you are not already giving? If you are, consider how you might increase that percentage as an act of devotion and partnership with the church in the work of the gospel?
  • If finances are not an option for you at this time, how might you give of your time, energy, or service? How can you, because of your freedom in Christ, show your devotion and ambition for the gospel generously by giving of yourself out of the blessings God has bestowed on you?
  • If worries arise as you think about giving generously, read Matthew 6:25-34 in preparation for next week’s sermon. Let the words of our loving king comfort and encourage your heart as you wrestle with this area of worship.
