Our trip to Japan began with prayer at the airport—asking the Lord to go before us and prepare our hearts to minister to those in Japan. As we descended over Japan, the beauty of the country was a clear display of the Lord’s creation and brought to mind Psalm 8:3-4:
3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
4 what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?
Seeing Japan from the sky was a precious reminder of His love that reaches every corner of the earth. During the flight to Tokyo, Rich had the incredible opportunity of sharing the Gospel with a young man seated in his row! The young man shared that he had just graduated high school in Rowland Heights and would be attending UCLA in the fall. Throughout the flight, Rich shared the wondrous grace revealed to us, as well as the character of our holy and righteous God. Ashley had also brought Gospel tracks from Lighthouse Community Church, which she was able to leave with the young man before we landed. Praise God for the boldness and readiness of the saints for good works!
Praise God for His sustaining grace through the long flight and allowing us to quickly get on our connecting flight without issue. At Nagoya, we were reunited with Cindy (our sixth team member, who had arrived earlier), as well as other Logos Community Church members!

Please continue to pray that God would sustain us (i.e., our health, our travels, our unity, our mutual love, service, and endurance) and bless us so that we can help Logos Community Church achieve their three main goals for the VBS.
- To Bless – the local community by helping make a larger impact through the VBS, allowing more of the community to know about the church.
- To Bridge – the local Japanese to not only know “about” the church, but to “come and see” and understand what a church does.
- To Share – the gospel that only Jesus saves, and to show how the church gathers around this gospel of Jesus Christ.
