Eric’s Links: Assorted Topics!

Hello church family!

I hope you’re all doing well! My staff links today mainly consist of the things that caught my interest and attention as I peruse the Interweb.

A Secular’s Opinion on ‘Why You Will Marry the Wrong Person’
As far as I’m aware, the author of this article is not a Christian. Nevertheless, he has some interesting and truthful statements concerning relationships and marriage.

“We mustn’t abandon him or her, only the founding Romantic idea upon which the Western understanding of marriage has been based the last 250 years: that a perfect being exists who can meet all our needs and satisfy our every yearning…Compatibility (his understanding of complementing) is an achievement of love; it must not be its precondition.”

In Memory of William Klug, Biomechanical Engineer, Father, and Lover of God

Many of you are aware that there was a shooting at UCLA yesterday (June 1). One of the victims was a beloved associate professor of engineering at UCLA. His name was William Klug. He was a father of two children, husband of a now-suffering wife, and a Christian.

“I developed a habit of relying on God for what I felt was beyond my ability to control or what I couldn’t do for myself.”

Why Are the Epistles Relevant Today?

“We need [the Epistles] all the more because some of the messages in the General Epistles are not only relevant but unpopular, given the atmosphere in the mainstream of modern Western cultures.”

See you all this Sunday!
