Meet Our Interns: Zach Chen

In our Spotlight sections, you’ll get better acquainted with ministries or members of our church in the hope that how God is working in their lives will encourage and strengthen you! This week you’re introduced to Zach Chen, one of our summer interns!

Megan: Hi Zach! It’s so exciting to have you on board for the summer – can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Zach: I’m from Chino Hills, and am finishing up at Cal State University, Long Beach (I walked this spring but still have one semester left). My favorite food is sukiyaki … and my favorite sibling is probably my sister! (just kidding! I don’t play favorites!)

M: Haha! How funny. How long have you been coming to Lighthouse for? What ministries will you be involved with this summer?

Z: I’ve been coming for almost 4 years. I’ll be serving in the Youth Ministry, specifically in High School. I’m looking forward to meeting new people and learning how to minister well. I MOST look forward to serving under the tutelage of Master Eric Cai.

M: I know Eric is really looking forward to having you on staff, too! Actually, I think all the staff really enjoys having you around. What do you think about the staff? (Lots of big personalities!).

Z: They’re awesome! So many different personalities coming together to create an interesting culture. People who might have never associated with each other joke around, encourage, and serve one another because of our commonality in Christ.

M: That’s great, Zach. We’re all really thankful for your heart to serve the church. How can we be praying for you?

Z: God has been humbling me through the opportunities He’s presented me (i.e. Japan Team & Internship). You could pray that that humility doesn’t turn into self-deprecation and discouragement, but that these humbling circumstances would push me to serve all the more gladly and gratefully and discipline myself for the glory of God

Thanks Zach! Zach will be heading out to Japan in a couple weeks, so check back on the blog for updates from the Japan Team!
