Sunday Fuel: Sept. 7, 2025

Welcome to Sunday Fuel! This series of questions is designed to assist your personal reflection and fellowship with others about the sermon from this past Sunday.

Go to This Sunday’s Sermon (start at 21:08)

1. Read 2 Tim. 4:6-8. How well are you running the race of life?

  • If others were to look at your life, what might they say is your purpose and devotion, based on how you live?
  • Are you running as if this life is all there is or are you running in light of a greater eternal future?
  • Are you running the right course toward Christ, with the goal of pleasing Him—or running hard and fast on a different one apart from Him?

2. If you feel regrets about your past and feel discouraged about how you are living your life for Christ, take time to think on the hope of the gospel.

  • Remember that though we justly deserve the harshest of penalties, Christ has already run that race for us, bearing the penalty we deserve, and gives us the crown He is rewarded with (v. 8).
  • Confess the ways you have failed to run faithfully and trust that in Christ, you are fully forgiven.
  • Rest knowing that He sees Christ’s perfect righteousness and then he treats us like sons and daughters. Let that truth sink deep and encourage you to keep running with hope.
  • Pray that He will help you to take steps today to renew your commitment to run faithfully. How can you respond to the godly conviction the Spirit is stirring up in your heart?

3. What is one commitment you can make to live out a life of faithful devotion to the Lord? Consider the suggestions from the sermon or come up with your own. Or who in your life might you encourage to do so? Is there a part of your own story or experience of God’s grace—even in your failure—that you can share to spur another believer on in faith?
