Sunday Fuel: Sept. 28, 2025

Welcome to Sunday Fuel! This series of questions is designed to assist your personal reflection and fellowship with others about the sermon from this past Sunday.

Go to This Sunday’s Sermon (start at 21:32)

1. In what areas of your life are you discouraged and disheartened because you feel second-rate or not good enough? Or where do you feel pressure to keep performing to maintain your edge or advantage? Why is this so important to you? What do you hope to gain by your efforts?

2. Pastor Kim reminds us that we, as creatures, are purposely designed by God to not be “enough” in ourselves. What methods do you use to try to feel “enough”? How are they working for you?

3. What are some truths about God in this sermon that you need to be reminded of today (such as His complete righteousness for our unrighteousness, his mercy and compassion for sinners who foolishly rely on themselves, his approval and acceptance of those who are His children through Christ, his surpassing worth and value that is better than all other earthly treasure)? Compare these with your self-reliant “gains.” Do you struggle to believe Christ is better? Why or why not?

4. Because of Him we do not need to be better, because He was better for us. What difference does this truth make as you reconsider those areas of your life that discourage or dishearten you?

5. Confess where you are trying to have the best of both worlds, your attempts to gain righteousness through your own efforts, or the ways you put your faith in the world’s treasure instead of treasuring Christ. What will you need to be willing to count as loss for the sake of Christ? Will you place your confidence in Christ, trusting He is better, even if this leads to suffering and hardship? If you struggle with this, express this to Him and ask Him to help you grow in faith and trust.
