1. What occasions prompt you to pray? What concerns are on your heart today? Keep this in mind in the following questions.
2. There is nothing wrong with honestly sharing our desires to God. However, what would be your response if God did not give you what you prayed for? Or perhaps think of how you respond to God when he does not answer your prayers as you wish. What might this reveal to you about your heart or reason for praying?
3. Our understanding of who God is will determine the tone and tenor of your prayers. Who is God to you and how does this impact your relationship with Him?
4. Jesus tells us that God is our Father who sees you, knows everything about you and loves you with perfect love. Because of the gospel, you are His true child and not an enemy. As a good Father, he wants the best for you and will give you what you most truly need every single time—even if it may not be what we think we need.
5. If God is our good Father, how might this change how you pray for your concern in question 1? Take time to share your questions and burdens with Him. Close your time with thanksgiving and gratitude.
In addition to spending time praying for your concerns, will you keep praying about them as they crop up in your thoughts throughout the day, even if they are short? Simply be honest, trusting that as you pray He is bringing you more in line with His story.
