Being made in the image of God is not defined by specific qualities or ability to contribute to society but by the fact that each person is created by God. For this reason, every person must be valued and treated with love and respect, with the weakest among us receiving special care and protection, as a reflection of Him in this world.

1. Are there ways you fail, by omission or commission, to honor the people around you (disabled or not) as image bearers? Confess these to the Lord.

2. Take time to praise Christ who humbly and willingly took on our frailty so that He may serve as our representative.

3. How does the truth that every person you see—at home, work, church, everywhere you go—is created in the image of God change how you treat them?

4. What are ways you can, out of love for God and our desire to reflect Him, show value to the people you see, both those you know and those you encounter?

5. Are there ways the Spirit is moving you to care for and protect the vulnerable among us? What is one small step—including praying for God’s direction—that you can take?
