Welcome to Sunday Fuel! This series of questions is designed to assist your personal reflection and fellowship with others about the sermon from this past Sunday.
Go to This Sunday’s Sermon (Start at 21:31)
God created us to experience our deepest satisfaction, contentment and happiness—shalom—in Him. However, sin shatters this peace by creating enmity with our Creator. Cut off from Him, we pursue other means of trying to make life “right” again.
- What is something you wish would change in your life?
2. In this situation, what are you looking for that would give you peace? Consider:
- outward manifestations (what you want to happen, like a change in circumstances or pursuit of something you think will bring you that contentment) and
- internal motivations (why you want this to happen)
- How do you think these solutions will give you the shalom that you are looking for?
3. Explain how the gospel is the only way to true shalom. What is the real reason behind our lack of peace? Why is trust in the Gospel essential to finding satisfaction and contentment?
4. Beyond bringing peace with God, the gospel also brings peace to our situation by connecting us to God’s grace, love and faithfulness, and hope. Take time to imagine how these gifts through the Gospel can change how you view your situation.
5. Confess the ways you have pursued peace apart from Christ, the Prince of Peace. Will you humbly go to Him instead, in repentance and faith through the Gospel? Thank Him for the provision He has made for both peace with God and peace as we walk through life.
