1. Review the message and put into your own words:

• What makes marriage different than any other human relationship?
• How does the covenantal nature of marriage point us to Christ? How does it illustrate the gospel?  
• If the goal of marriage is not merely to avoid divorce, what is the higher calling Jesus is calling us into? 

From the above, can you summarize what God’s intention and vision is for marriage here on earth?  

2. If you are single, honestly assess: am I looking for a partner that is easy to love and will make my life better? Or am I looking for someone I can commit myself faithfully to, that I might point others to Christ and reflect the gospel? Consider registering for and attending the “Devoted” conference. 

3. If you are married:

• What about your spouse makes it challenging to keep your commitment? In what areas of your marriage do you feel tempted to turn love into a transaction? Will you admit and confess this to God, admitting that it falls short of HIs intention and example of love? 
• If we view marriage as a covenantal commitment and promise to love, how might it change how you view this particular challenge to love? Reflect on Ephesians 5:22-33. In what ways can you ask God to help you reflect and display the gospel in the way that you love our spouse in this area? 

4. If you are living with the impact of divorce in your life: how can God’s example of covenant love draw you closer to Him in this area of your life? How can the gospel of God’s love for sinners bring you hope? Prayerfully ask how your experience might be transformed into something that builds others up.
