Meet Our Staff: Christian Hedland

Please meet Christian! He’s a new addition to Lighthouse’s staff and he’ll be serving as a pastoral intern in Beacon, our college ministry. Learn a little bit about him through these questions and answers, then give him a warm welcome!

Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Hi Lighthouse family! My name is Christian Hedland, and I have been at Lighthouse for about seven years. I grew up in Torrance and went to The Master’s University, where I received a B.A. in Biblical Studies. I am currently enrolled at Southern Seminary pursuing an M.Div in biblical and theological studies. Lord willing, I will pursue further studies after I finish in a year, and my desire is to go into academics.

What are your hobbies and interests? What do you do in your free time?

My hobbies and interests mainly revolve around sports. I enjoy playing basketball and volleyball, and I avidly follow the Lakers and Dodgers. My sister lives in Mammoth Lakes, so I also enjoy snowboarding there in the winter and hiking in the summer. I also enjoy reading.

As you may know by now, the Lighthouse staff loves food. What are your favorite foods?

I enjoy pretty much any type of food. Some of my favorite places in the area are Sushi Island, Tacos El Goloso, Aunty Maile’s, and In-N-Out.

Are there any interesting facts we should know about you?

One interesting fact about me is that I studied abroad in Israel for a semester in college.

How has your time in the church office been? What are you looking forward to?

My time in the church office has been great. I have been encouraged by the book study we are going through and the conversations I’ve had with the staff. One thing I am looking forward to is getting to know some of the staff better and learning from them.

What will your role be on staff at Lighthouse?

My role at Lighthouse will be a summer intern, and I will be helping Francis and Seichi with college ministry.

In what ways are you looking forward to doing ministry at Lighthouse?

I am looking forward to learning about what it looks like to lead, love, and serve a church well.

How can we, as your church family, be praying for you?

Please pray that I will adjust to the internship well while balancing school. Please also pray for a humble spirit that is eager to learn and serve the church family and staff well.

Bonus Question: If you had to instantaneously turn into an animal from 2:00pm to 3:00pm every day, what would you turn into and why?

Haha this is probably a very boring and practical answer, but if I had to instantaneously turn into an animal from 2:00pm to 3:00pm every day, I would probably turn into a monkey because they have opposable thumbs, so I’d still be able to do a lot of things.
