Brian’s Links: Podcast Edition!
Ever wonder what Brian listens to during his commute? Here are links to the most listened to podcasts and their corresponding websites. Technology is amazing!!
Signposts (10-15 min per episode)
Russell D. Moore (president of the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission) has a podcast called Signposts where he discusses pressing cultural and ethical questions, and points us toward a Christian worldview. Here’s a podcast episode that might be helpful for some parents out there:
Questions & Ethics: Should I get my 12 year old a smartphone?
The Briefing (20-25 min per episode)
Albert Mohler (President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary) has a website where he puts up articles like this one about Winston Churchill (http://www.albertmohler.com/2016/01/08/the-courageous-leadership-of-winston-churchill/). But he also has a podcast called The Briefing where he gives a daily analysis of news and events from a Christian worldview.
99% Invisible (~20 min per episode)
Narrated by Roman Mars (amazing speaking voice), this is a weekly exploration of the process and power of design and architecture. Here’s one of my favorite episodes called “Pagodas and Dragon Gates” (http://99percentinvisible.org/episode/pagodas-dragon-gates/) about the SF Chinatown design. You can check out other episodes on their website or on iTunes.
Dan Carlin’s Hardcore History (~3-4 hours per episode)
I just started listening to this podcast, and it’s not for everyone, but if you love history or want to brush up on your history, this is a very informative (and entertaining) podcast! I’d recommend starting with “Show 50 – Blueprint for Armageddon,” which talks about the start of WWI and the chain reaction that one bullet set off around the world.
Also, another great site is the “Ask Pastor John” series on Desiring God. Here’s a relevant podcast for those who are working:
“Will God Call Me to a Career I Don’t Enjoy?” (http://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/will-god-call-me-to-a-career-i-don-t-enjoy)
