Christmas Advent: Family Devotionals
If you are wondering about possible resources to work through this Advent season, here are two helpful and comprehensive studies for you and your family to use in the month of December to reflect and celebrate the birth of Jesus!
(1) Good News of Great Joy. This is a resource put together by Desiring God (John Piper). It’s a daily devotional from December 1-25. You could receive daily emails, subscribe to the podcast, or download the ebook! You can also download the Solid Joys app on your phone here for daily devotionals throughout the year!
(2) Advent Study by The Village Church. This is a 5 week guide that includes both a study to complete on your own as well as a plan to help families talk about the Advent narrative together. The family portions are designed to work for families of all shapes and sizes and do not require extensive preparation.
Whether you are very familiar or not familiar at all with the Advent narrative, I encourage you to not rush past what God has planned for you in this season. For some of you, this may be a time to consider all that God is saying through the birth of His Son. For others of you, it will be an opportunity to rediscover the way God intimately works in the details of life for His glory and for your good.
I encourage you to take time to remember and rejoice in Christ’s coming to this earth to save us from our sin and also to use this season to anticipate and look forward for our King to come again! There is much to celebrate!
