[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Last year we gifted the pastors with The Pastor and Counseling by Jeremy Pierre and Deepak Reju. After sending a picture of the pastors with this book to them, Tim shared that Jeremy Pierre responded with this: “Our best efforts are not worthy of these precious pastors.” A fitting statement that would ring true even a year later.
After finishing our time in Thailand, we made our way to Myanmar to finish our last leg of the training. And while we’re excited to meet with the Burmese pastors that we met last year, there is the realization that things are just starting to heat up.
In Thailand, Tim and I were both re-teaching older (though more updated material) and were also taking turns. In Myanmar however, we’re teaching newer material: Counseling anger and depression (today was anger). Added to that, there are two tracks – a translated track (Mat) and an English track (Tim) – meaning that there are no breaks for either Tim or myself. We’re both doing everything from here on out. Needless to say we’re exhausted, miss everyone at home dearly, and we still have another day and a half of all day teaching.
[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”9157″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Yet as fatigued as we feel, both Tim and I are greatly encouraged and humbled by the pastors in Myanmar. We learned that there are a couple of pastors who are sacrificing their vacation to serve in the conference. But in particular, I (Mat) learned that there was one who is not only sick, he has to take a 2 hour commute one way to be here/ So why is he even here? Because there is another single pastor who speaks an entirely different dialect and he want to translate for that one so that he gets everything. His love for his brother is humbling: He sacrificed everything for one.
Our best efforts are not worthy of these precious pastors. The words are still true one year later. Our best efforts are not worthy of these precious pastors.
