Local Outreach

Ministry Overview

We exist to make gospel-centered disciples who exalt and proclaim Christ. Our Local Outreach ministry is our gospel proclamation and gospel-centered service to our neighbors and peers in the South Bay. There are several ways that we engage with and minister to our neighbors and peers:

Personal Evangelism Equipping

Seminars offered periodically throughout the year to help equip, encourage, and embolden you to engage in personal evangelism for your everyday life.

Youth Outreach

For Christian youth of Lighthouse who want to be further equipped in personal evangelism and/or how to reach their school with the gospel.

Spectrum

Spectrum, our international student ministry, is focused on serving international college students in our area and sharing the love of Christ with them. For more information about Spectrum, contact Eufemio Magsombol, Jr., Associate Pastor of Int’l Students and 30+ Singles.

Foster the City

Lighthouse has partnered with Foster the City, which is an organization that brings together churches to provide a loving home for children in the foster care system. Our goal is to build up families and individuals in our church who would care for foster children, whether it being someone who takes them into their home or supports the individual or family who does. If you would like more information regarding our Foster the City ministry, please contact us at fostering@lighthousesouthbay.org.

Local Outreach & Volunteer Opportunities

These events are great opportunities to invite our friends and families to Lighthouse and hear the hope of the gospel. Details provided for each event on the event page as the date approaches.

Football Fellowship

Watch the big game and enjoy great food and fellowship with the Lighthouse church family. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and family to meet those in our church and hear a gospel presentation during halftime. Light refreshments will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own snacks to enjoy. Please note that we will be showing the game ad-free, and we will be having 3rd service on this day.

Golf Outing and Outreach

Come join us for a round of golf at a local golf course typically in early October. Beginner to experienced golfers are welcome. Golfers are welcome to invite friends and family who don’t attend church to this outreach event. After the round, join us at Lighthouse for dinner, families of players are invited to join for dinner as well.

Feed My Starving Children

In mid to late October, Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) will transform our fellowship hall into a food packing warehouse that will send over 100,000 meals to children in need. Volunteers will be able to sign up for 2-hour shifts on the Friday and Saturday of the event. This is a great event to invite your friends, family members and coworkers too. Please note that there is an age requirement (minimum age for packing is 5 years old with parental supervision), and everyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (an adult is someone 18 years of age or older).

Fall Festival

Join us for Fall Festival on October 31st starting in the early evening! We have prepared a fun and interactive way for kids to enjoy carnival games and learn more about Jesus. Keep in mind that this event is for children 5th grade and under. This is a great opportunity to invite friends and families with children 5th grade and under. We also need your help in order to make Fall Festival possible! From greeting families, to donating candy, to helping with game booths, crafts, serving snacks, it takes the entire church in order to ensure that Fall Festival is as fun and safe as it can be! Volunteers must be members or regular attendees of Lighthouse.

VBS

The hope for each VBS (Vacation Bible School) is that our children would know Christ, either for the first time or in a deeper way. The main VBS program caters to children who were in kindergarten through fifth grade during the previous school year. A preschool program is available for children aged 5+ (by the upcoming fall semester, typically Sept. 1) and potty-trained.

Local Outreach Partners

Valor Christian Academy

Lighthouse is proud to be a partner with Valor Christian Academy (VCA), a private Christian school in Redondo Beach. At VCA, teachers are able to share the gospel with students and impact families in our community. Our church has committed to pray for the school, encourage their staff in their outreach, and serve the school through an annual physical campus restoration service day that happens at the end of April or early May.
