Welcome to Sunday Fuel! This series of questions is designed to assist your personal reflection and fellowship with others about the sermon from this past Sunday.
Go to This Sunday’s Sermon
1. What concern, burden, or frustration is on your mind right now? What would you like God to do for you?
As you consider this request, honestly evaluate it: does it further God’s kingdom or your own? Do you desire God’s kingdom purposes but wish he would accomplish it following your plan instead? Confess the ways that you struggle to surrender to His will.
2. Think of Christ, who not only desired God’s kingdom but surrendered to His plans, even to the point of a horrible, unfair death. Take time to praise Him for not submitting to both the Father’s purposes and His plans to get there.
3. How might your requests change if you committed to surrender your purposes to His? How might your requests change if you submitted not only to his purposes but his plans, his means of fulfilling his purposes in your life?
4. If you are committed to both his kingdom purposes and plans, what difficulties might that require you to face today? What painful realities will you need to live with? What gracious daily manna will you need to live faithfully? What worries about tomorrow can you entrust to Him? Take time to bring these to Him and ask Him for the daily bread you need just for today.
5. As this is outreach month, take some time to also pray for God’s larger kingdom purposes:
- For the gospel to spread throughout our immediate vicinity and out through the world
- For unbelievers to come to faith and for believers to live out their faith.
- For our church’s missionaries and outreach efforts, teachers and preachers at our church to share the gospel each week, our foster-care efforts, unbelievers to join us every Sunday, outreach training, etc.
