Quiet Progress

February 13, 2026

Since our last update was so exciting, we have blissfully enjoyed a relatively boring month! Just normal meetings, moving forward, and taking the next steps one by one. Not a whole lot has visibly changed, but our Campus Expansion Project is quietly continuing to progress in the right direction.

We officially signed a contract with Visioneering to move from the Basecamp Master Planning phase into the Design phase, where we will begin to finalize plans and develop schematic designs. They will also navigate us through the CUP process, which we hopefully be completed within 4-6 months of plan submission.

The blessing of getting the entire 529/531 building threw all of us for a loop, and when our team got back together with Visioneering, we all had to reorient ourselves to the new scope of the project. But with the hours of conversations that we had already had with Visioneering, it wasn’t difficult to translate the smaller scale plan to the expanded space. I can’t imagine a lot of building projects that suddenly find themselves with more square footage than they had originally planned!

We also had a chance to meet with John Parker (President/CEO) and Greg Ahman (Executive VP of Construction) for cost analysis to arrive at some rough order-of-magnitude numbers for the project. Once we are through schematic planning and get actual real-world bids, we’ll be able to narrow down our expected costs. (Fun fact! John Parker is an award-winning former Disney Imagineer who worked on beloved experiences like Soarin’ Over California! I’m sure our building will end up being exactly like that.) We’ll share more about the budget in the future, but suffice to say that the range of costs are reasonable given the scope of the project.

We wish there was something more tangible we could show you at this point! Some of you spreadsheet people would love to look at all the formulas for calculating our budget! Some of you can’t wait to see the design of the building! We’re excited to share all of that with you, but in order to present the clearest picture of the project at the right time, we’re going to hold off on revealing some of that information until May, which will mark the one-year anniversary of our Generosity Initiative. It will be a great moment to look back at where God has brought us, and we’ll have a chance to look forward as a church family to what lies ahead. We can’t wait!

In the mean time, here’s a completely inaccurate, AI-generated image of what our current sanctuary would look like if it were part of Soarin’ Over California at Disney’s California Adventure. Visioneering had nothing to do with this, and this little exercise was a good reminder of why we’re so thankful that they are designing the building!
