1. Pastor Kim defines spiritual warfare as “the spiritual battle for our devotion, driven by Satan’s deceptions, that deals with the day-to-day sins and struggles of the Christian life.”

a. What form does spiritual warfare take in your own heart?

  • What sins do you struggle with
  • What particular struggles do you deal with in your life that Satan can use to tempt you?
  • What good desire or longing are you looking to, outside of God’s good design, for your happiness?

b. When this temptation arises, how do you give in to it or let it turn you away from God?

2. When you succumb to the temptation, what lie has Satan convinced you to believe at that moment? How do you believe giving in to this temptation will make your life better?

3. In your particular temptation, what is God’s desire? What would obedience look like? How does He describe faithfulness in this moment?

More importantly, what does God’s Word tell you about His nature or character in this particular temptation? Write down as many Scriptures as you can to help you see how God’s way is better.

4. Using these Scriptures, take time to pray, praising God for who He is and how these truths can help you trust and obey Him in your moment of temptation.

5. If you fail and succumb to temptation, turn quickly to Christ and seek His forgiveness. Thank Him for His merciful love and gracious kindness to you. Recommit your heart to Him who loves you and is able to use these moments of temptation to help you become more like Christ. Thank Him for His example to us, and ask Him to empower you by His Spirit to trust and treasure Him when that temptation arises again.
