- Easter is such a jubilant time of celebration, yet our hearts can be so weighed down by the troubles of our lives that any celebration, even at Easter, can feel fake. To celebrate at all in a season of suffering might feel like a denial. What current personal challenges tend to eclipse the hope of Christ’s resurrection in your life?
- On Sunday Pastor Kim reminded us of the hope of the gospel saying, “Our hope is in the Worst Day.” How does Christ’s worst day, the truly worst day in history, equip you with living hope for your worst days?
- God is the most powerful and the most strong. Acts 2:24 shows his total power over death itself. Yet we can easily look away from God to false sources of strength. What other sources of power and strength do you lean on in place of God?
- John 3:16, 1 John 4:9, Acts 2:23, and Rom 8:32 all point to God sending his Son to the cross to save us and bring us into a life giving relationship with him. Consider the idols in your life, those God replacements that you hope will provide your deepest needs. In light of the love our God has demonstrated in sacrificing his Son, why do you think we are easily led to believe that someone or something in this world could give us more than God has already given us in Christ?
- The application points on Sunday were, “be humble with God’s plan” and “be hopeful in God’s love.” Because of God’s loving plan unfolding in our lives, hard things can become helpful things as we see God’s love at work. Consider a recent challenge you faced, how did God use it to reveal his love to you so you might better understand him?
