Megan’s Links: Passion Week

Hi Lighthouse!

I can’t believe that it’s already the week of Easter – it feels like we just celebrated Christmas and New Year’s. Nevertheless, this is one of my favorite times of year. Looking back on Palm Sunday and looking forward to Good Friday and Easter Sunday, I hope this is a week of much reflection on the sacrifice of our Lord!

Here are some resources to check out as we prepare for Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday:

The Passion Week – Infographic

If you’re anything like me, visuals always help! Check out this chronological timeline of the major events of Passion Week – and all the events are cross-referenced with the gospels it is found in. Super neat!

The Bright Sadness of Holy Week

A reflection on Christ’s sacrifice from the Village Church: May our gaze be locked upon Jesus this Easter season. May we know the lavished love of God poured out for us. May we know He cares about our sorrow. He is tuned into our affliction and has done something about it all. May we hope in the day when sin and suffering will be shattered with finality. May we come to worship Him expectantly. And may we worship Him knowing that He, the man of sorrows, has become our brightness.”

Make the Most of Holy Week

I like this article from Desiring God, as it encourages us to not waste this week and gives practical ways to “make the most of it”. “May God make this to be for you a week of being newly grounded in the love of Christ, so plainly on display from the resolve of Palm Sunday, to the ultimate sacrifice of Good Friday, to the triumph of Easter Sunday. And may you freshly know the love of Christ, in all its breadth and length and height and depth — and wonder upon wonder, be filled with all the fullness of God.”

The Valley of Vision: The Grace of the Cross

There are many prayers from the Puritan collection, “The Valley of Vision”, that would be good to use for reflection and prayer during this week – I encourage you to check out the collection. Here is a good place to start.

See you on Friday –
Megan
