Garrett’s Links: Living Fully for Christ

On Sunday, we were blessed to sit under the teaching of Eufemio Magsombol Jr. as he preached through Mark 14:1–9. The main point he emphasized was that, when we truly recognize Christ’s worth, we will live fully for Him no matter the cost. This is a valuable truth to understand, and one that we would gain much from by camping out in a little longer. So here are some links to help us think through some of the points that were brought out from the passage:

Point #1: In following Christ we must recognize His great worth.

To Love Him is to Know Him

Tim Challies on how loving Christ is truly knowing him.

The Treasure Makes All the Difference

One of Jesus’s most powerful parables is also one of his shortest:

The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field (Matthew 13:44)…”

How to Go Deeper in Bible Study

To recognize the great worth of Christ, we need to know Christ better. To know Christ better, we need to go to the best source for that, which is the Word of God. This is a helpful post with a few tips on how to study the bible deeper.

Point #2: In following Christ we must offer Him our all.

It Will Cost you Everything

One of my favorite and most impactful sermons on my life. It’s a message by Steve Lawson from the Resolved Conference a few years ago entitled, “It Will Cost You Everything”.

When We Send a Person to His Death

Being disciples of Christ does not call us to lives of comfort or ease. John Piper responds to the death of a missionary in Libya and the sobering, yet hopeful reality of the cost of following Jesus.

Why I Said “No” to the NFL

The story of a college football player who gave up a potential career in the NFL to pursue God’s calling and go to seminary. If you have a moment, watch the original video found in the link.

When I decided to follow Christ, did I have to quit playing football? Absolutely not. As a matter of fact, I think football is a beautiful thing, and I have a deep appreciation for any brother in Christ who labors on that mission field.”

Point #3: In following Christ we must look to the greater reward.

My Life is an Offering (Musical Video)

There is great joy and reward in gaining what is infinitely greater, which is knowing Christ! What better response than through worship.
