2019 Japan VBS: Day 2 – On the Move

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Our morning began with a devotional, focusing on the passage where Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me.” This is truly our hope and desire, to see these children come to know Jesus. Today’s lesson was “God loves you when you are worried!” We pray that the children will come to rely on Jesus to rescue them, but even more so that they would see their need to have a Savior. The children are given homework at the end of every day (tell somebody about what they learned, memorize the verse of the day, etc.), and when they complete the homework they get prizes! They LOVE the prizes, as you can see by how they rush around the prize box![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row equal_height=”yes”][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12190″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Other than our time with the children, if you’re curious about what the day looks like, it goes like this… It takes us about an hour to get from the apartment where we are staying to the local community center by train. We are so thankful that one of the ANF pastors picks us up every morning from our last station stop to drive us the rest of the way to the center!

We get to the center an hour before to set up. Since we technically rent rooms from the cultural center, we sometimes have to shuffle rooms based on other activities that may also be occurring at the center. Some rooms have to be returned back to the way it was set up every day, so for those rooms we have to re-set up every morning and tear down at noon. This means there’s a lot of set up and moving around!

Tomorrow, we won’t have access to the main hall (see pic below) where all the children gather for musical worship. Instead, we will be in a smaller room next door. We spent some time after lunch moving supplies and equipment to the other room. So we feel like we are constantly on the move! We also had to mend Tiki-chan today because she almost had a wardrobe malfunction (the box tore in the back during the dancing).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12191″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It’s been getting warmer here in Nagoya. Today the weather in the afternoon was 101 F and the “feels-like” was 113 F! The kids still have energy to play in the sun during rec time![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12169″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”img_link_large”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12193″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes” onclick=”img_link_large”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Prayer Requests:

  • We noticed that some of the children who usually attend church seem to be less excited during the activities (games, musical worship), compared to the children who don’t normally attend church. Please pray that these children would experience the true joy that can be found through Christ.
  • Please pray for the health and safety of the attendees, especially as the temperature gets warmer. It’s supposed to be even warmer tomorrow.
  • Please pray that we would have more opportunities to have deeper conversations with the moms, and to continue to grow the relationships and be able to share the gospel with them.

Thank you for your continued prayers![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row]
