2019 Japan VBS: Prepping Frenzy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Sunday and Monday Recap (Prep Days)

Thank you all for your prayers!  On Sunday we joined All Nations Fellowship at their Nagakute location.  Most of the team (Mark, Jen, Ken, Cindy) helped teach the children’s Sunday school, and Toshi and I got to attend the service.  Pastor Yu Eguchi, who spent last month with us at Lighthouse, spoke about how we should examine our hearts and our response in difficult situations, and how we should ask God to help change our hearts rather than changing the situations.  The service was held at the wedding chapel at Sun Plaza Seasons Hotel, which gave a whole new meaning to Jesus as the bridegroom and the church as the bride![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12149″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12150″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]After lunch, we started the prep!  The VBS will be held at the local cultural center, so we moved all the boxes of supplies there.  Most of the afternoon and evening was spent preparing the registration items and organizing the supplies we brought over.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12151″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12152″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Monday was more prep!  But we started the morning with a little exercise, a Japanese tradition called rajio taisou (radio exercise).  You can try for yourself here![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”12153″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We then went to Daiso to get more supplies for the classes (classroom supplies, craft supplies, utensils for snacks, etc.) and got to see Hannah Kang!  Hannah is a Lighthouse member who interned at CBI this summer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12154″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12155″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]And now we are just prepping more, getting all the decorations ready.  This year’s mascot will be Tiki-chan, who is still in the process of being made (the theme this year is Grace Island).  Stay tuned for the final product![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12156″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”12157″ img_size=”full” add_caption=”yes”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Prayer Requests:

  • VBS starts tomorrow!  Please pray that the children and moms will feel welcomed, and that we would be able to connect with them quickly.
  • For the children to be attentive during all the activities, that they would be receptive to the gospel message.
  • For the health and safety of the children, the volunteer moms, and the team.

Thank you all for your prayers![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row]
