Online Church, Zoom Fatigue, and the Gospel

Key Idea: Perseverance is about hope in Christ.

I. Remember the heart Philippians 4:6–7

a. Consider the sins and idolatries that make virtual church more difficult
b. Consider how you are training your heart

II. Recognize grace Philippians 1:12-13

a. It can create in us a greater longing and a deeper faith (Philippians 1)
b. The opportunity to be a Mary in a Martha world (Luke 10:38-42)
c. To build in you sympathy and compassion (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
d. To expand His kingdom (Philippians 1:12-13)

III. Reorient your hope Philippians 1:21; 3:8; 3:14; 4:12-13

a. Hope in Christ (not in a date when we worship together, the end of safer at home, things getting back to normal, etc.)
b. Don’t worry about tomorrow, focus on Christ today (Matthew 6:34)
c. Don’t confuse socially distanced church, with a socially distant Christ (James 4:8)
d. Have truth ready to fuel your faith (Colossians 3:2)

IV. Redirect your love Philippians 1:14-18, 21-26

a. Look outward to the church family and find ways to uniquely love
b. Look outward to the world and share the gospel
