Without further ado, we’re excited to invite your family to be part of Lighthouse’s 2018 VBS! The hope for each VBS is that our children would know Christ, either for the first time or in a deeper way. With this year’s theme, Shipwrecked, kids are going to learn about how Jesus Christ rescues us!
You may have some questions.
What does a day at VBS look like?
After checking into their crews (age-specific classes), children start the day by singing songs together in the sanctuary. Each crew then cycles through a rotation of various stations in 40 minute intervals (teaching, crafts, recreation, snack, video). Each crew and each station are supervised by adult volunteers. All the crews then reassemble in the sanctuary at the close of the day to sing a few more songs before being picked up by their parents.
Who can attend Lighthouse’s VBS?
Due to size limitations, we will be offering priority registration from June 10 to July 1 to families who call Lighthouse their home church, and 2) families who are not currently attending a Christian church. Starting on Sunday, July 1 at 6 PM, we will open registration to all other applicants, including families who are currently attending a Christian church other than Lighthouse.
If you attend a church other than Lighthouse, we kindly request that you not apply for VBS until July 1, after the priority registration period has ended.
My child is _____ years old. Can she attend VBS?
The main VBS program caters to children who were in kindergarten through fifth grade during the previous school year (Fall 2017-Spring 2018). A preschool program is available for children aged 5+ (by September 1, 2018) and potty-trained.
How much does VBS cost?
$40 for the first child, $35 for each subsequent child. This includes all VBS materials, a VBS t-shirt, and a VBS music CD (one per family).
What happens if I have to cancel my kid’s registration?
If you need to cancel, contact email@example.com. Full refunds will be available for canceled registrations up until July 8. No refunds will be offered after July 29.
If you have any questions, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
In order for our VBS to run smoothly, we depend on incredible volunteers from our church! We hope that you’ll consider serving in this year’s VBS!
Who can volunteer?
Volunteers must be:
- A member or regular attender of Lighthouse
- Able to volunteer at least two full days of VBS (8:15 AM – 12:15 PM)
- Junior high-aged or older (6th and 7th graders will be required to participate in special training prior to VBS)
What will volunteers be doing?
VBS volunteers meet together at 8:15 AM each day for some light breakfast and a devotional before the VBS program begins at 9 AM.
Volunteers are assigned to a specific area of ministry. We will consider people’s preferences, but based on VBS needs, we may not be able to accommodate everybody.
