New Site. Same Church.
A church is more than a building. And yet buildings have their roles to play. After years of waiting on the Lord's timing, he has seen fit to give us a more permament building to use for ministry. Starting on Sunday, September 11, 2011, Lighthouse Community Church will be located at 501 Van Ness Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501.
Here's how you can help make the transition to our new home one that honors the Lord.
Treat it like your home. After a long day of work, there's nothing better than walking to the front door of my home, knowing that just beyond its threshold is a place where I belong. After all, that's what home is. It's where your deepest relationships exist, where you can be yourself, where you feel most comfortable. We hope this describes our church. Within its walls, we want it to be a place where true fellowship flourishes, honest reflection abounds, and comfort in our identity in Christ
Treat it like it's not your home. You may be free to leave dishes in your sink at home. You feel fine about leaving your socks on the floor. But when your in someone else's home, you'd never dream of doing such things (right?). The building is for the use of the church family, not just you. So simple house rules apply. Clean up after yourself. Change out that empty toilet paper roll. Let it go if not everything is exactly the way you had hoped it would be. Be humble in preferring the preferences of your brothers and sisters.
Enter this home with the right heart. The twisted core of sin is the exchange of truth about God for a lie, and the worship of the created thing rather than the Creator (Romans 1:18). Let this not be the case with Lighthouse. Let a building not become our Baal. Its walls are meant to propel us beyond them, to the worship of the God who has granted them to us!
Listen to our recent Moving In preaching series to be reminded of what God requries of us. See you at home!
